Bermondsey Art Open

Bermondsey is home to some of London’s most exciting new galleries and Artists communities. On Saturday 21st September, to co-incide with the Bermondsey Street Festival there is the chance to visit one of the foremost creative hubs in the area just 5 minutes walk from Bermondsey Square.

SOUTHWARK STUDIOS _ Crimscott Street

Southwark Studios is home to over 50 artists working in a variety of mediums. We invite you to explore our Open Artists Studios and group exhibition in our Gallery and Cinema where we will be showcasing our members’ artwork. BOW ARTS SE1 OPEN STUDIOS – Bermondsey Project – Willow Walk

Over 140 artists will be opening their studios at Bow Arts Bermondsey studios, giving you the chance to see behind the scenes of this growing creative community of find artists and designers.

CRISIS SKYLIGHT BERMONDSEY – Bermondsey Project – Willow Walk

This is unique project – part art college, part vocational training centre that provides people that have experienced homelessness with the opportunity develop their art careers and find work through a range of intensive training courses and support studios. Come along and see the work that we do and visit our workshops and studios.

Open Day

We are joining local gallery White Cube, Bermondsey Project and Southwarks Studios in opening our doors as part of Bermondsey Street Festival. This is a unique opportunity for a behind the scene tour, with co-director Mary Doyle, to see a mural backdrop that is the set for Donna Huddleston’s upcoming performance Witch Dance in the gallery and our in-progress build of our Outset Study that will be opening in October 2014. – This is a drop in event, no booking necessary. http://drawingroom.org.uk/events/open-day

 

LONDON SCULPTURE WORKSHOP – Bermondsey Project – Willow Walk

LSW is London’s first open access sculpture workshop with exceptional facilities for artists and those interested in making work in 3D. LSW offers a superbly equipped metal and wood workshop with flexible working areas

LONDON COMMUNITY FURNITURE – Bermondsey Project – Willow Walk

East London Furniture make furniture from 100% recycled materials in our Bermondsey workshop. Going beyond the normal reclaimed timber yards, all materials used are salvaged from waste, meaning that most materials used in the products have been diverted from landfill.

EXHIBITIONS:

MISE-EN-SCENE

Renowned artist duo Cullinan Richards direct this year’s Bow Arts Open Show at The Bermondsey Project. Choosing the theme of ‘Mise- en- scène’ Cullinan Richards selected 19 Bow Artists to have works on display or performed over the course of the two- week exhibition programme.

A group show by several artists with different cultural perspectives; Farid Ighouba (Algeria), Stephen Grant (Scotland), Jose Gomez (Spain) who have produced work in a shared open plan studio over the past year. The exhibition examines the idea of dialogue between individuals within a small group with its potential for cross-pollination and greater collaborative intention.
